Emergency Treatment

IF YOU HAVE KNOCKED OUT  A NATURAL FRONT TOOTH IT IS IMPORTANT TO ACT QUICKLY, THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

Emergency appointments are designed for those patients who need to be seen urgently on the same day. We recommend that you telephone the practice as early in the day as possible if you feel that you need to be seen urgently. It is usually best to see your own dentist but you may be asked to see another if your own is not available and you will be asked to come at a specific time.

Please use this service only as it is intended so that genuine emergencies can always be seen quickly. If you have any ongoing problems as well, you will be asked to make a further routine appointment when your dentist has more time to ensure that you receive the best care.

Outside of normal surgery hours you can telephone the NHS out of hours emergency service on 111. If you are a private patient or a member of Portway Dental Care you should telephone the practice, where an automated message will give you the telephone number of the dentist on call who will be able to give you advice. On weekdays this will be one of our own dentists, at weekends and public holidays we participate in an emergency rota which covers South Oxfordshire. This private service is available from 9am to 5pm, telephone 01367 243947.

Members of Portway Dental Care who are away from home or more than 15 miles away from the practice can telephone the DPAS Emergency Helpline. In the UK call 0800 525 631, anywhere else in the world call +44 1747 820841. More information on this service can be found here.
